Jeffrey Leon Bridges (born December 4, 1949) is an American actor. Known for his leading man roles in film and television, he has received various accolades throughout his career spanning over seven decades, including an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. He received the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2019, and the Critics Choice Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023.
Bridges comes from a prominent acting family and appeared on the television series Sea Hunt (1958–1960) alongside his father Lloyd and brother Beau. He received the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as an alcoholic singer in Crazy Heart (2009). Other Oscar-nominated roles include The Last Picture Show (1971), Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974), Starman (1984), The Contender (2000), True Grit (2010), and Hell or High Water (2016). He also starred in Fat City (1972), Cutter's Way (1981), Against All Odds (1984), Jagged Edge (1985), The Morning After (1986), Nadine (1987), The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989), The Fisher King (1991), The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996), The Big Lebowski (1998), Seabiscuit (2003) and Bad Times at the El Royale (2018), along with the blockbusters King Kong (1976), Tron (1982), Iron Man (2008), and Tron: Legacy (2010).
