Jamie Alter is a sports writer, journalist, actor, commentator, author and YouTuber. Born in India to the late Tom Alter, Padma Shri recipient and actor across the film, television and theatre canvas, and Carol Evans Alter, a teacher who co-founded the American School of Bombay, Jamie has been a sports journalist since 2005 having covered multiple cricket World Cups.

After nearly five years working for ESPNcricinfo, Jamie served as Sports Editor of the Times of India Digital, Cricbuzz, Cricketnext and most recently as Group Sports Editor (Digital) at Zee Media. He also also authored two cricket-related books (A History of the World Cup, Field of Dreams: The Story of the DY Patil Sports Stadium) and dabbled in acting.

As the much-loved news anchor Tinku Jiya - as well as his twin Rinku Jiya - Jamie is the face of the popular YouTube channel Fake It India, a satirical take on the Indian television setup.

He has acted in five films, and in the OTT space in web series such as Afsos (Amazon Prime), in which he plays the main villain, Dr Goldfish; season two of Undekhi (SONYLiv), Rocket Boys (SONYLiv) and Mismatched's second season (Netflix). Jamie has also acted in a play directed by Dr M Sayeed Alam, as part of the internationally renowned theatre group, Pierrot's Troupe.
