The film was released theatrically worldwide on 18 December 2015 during the pre-Christmas period. Although the film’s domestic collection was considered below expectations, grossing over ₹150 crore net domestically, it became the sixth highest-grossing Indian film overseas. The film grossed more than ₹376.85 crore globally. The film earned nominations in six categories at the 61st Filmfare Awards, including Best Actor for Khan and Best Actress for Kajol.
