Rajnesh Mathur, a wealthy businessman, has two daughters with contrasting personalities. Roma, the elder, is ambitious and assertive, often used to getting her way, while Reema, the younger, is reserved and self-effacing, allowing her sister to take the spotlight. Reema secretly falls in love with Ravi Saxena, a successful author, after encountering him at a bookstore. Unaware of her feelings, Ravi meets Roma at an art gallery and is immediately attracted to her. A series of lighthearted interactions culminates in a budding romance, and Ravi eventually proposes marriage to Roma.
While the Mathur family is initially pleased, Rajnesh is concerned, knowing of Reema's unspoken affection for Ravi. Reema suppresses her emotions and supports the engagement. As Roma begins to receive offers for modeling, tension grows between the couple. Ravi disapproves of her pursuing a public career, but Roma continues in secret. Their relationship becomes strained, especially after she prioritizes her modeling commitments over spending time with him. On the eve of their wedding, Roma receives a film offer and abruptly leaves, leaving only a letter behind.
Shocked by her departure, the family reels from the scandal. Ravi, disillusioned, proposes marriage to Reema, recognizing her steadfastness and quiet support. Though hesitant, Reema consents, and they begin their marriage as friends. Over time, their relationship blossoms into genuine love. However, Roma's unexpected return disrupts their peace. She accuses Reema of betrayal and attempts to rekindle her relationship with Ravi, despite his firm rejection. After feigning a suicide attempt, Roma manipulates the situation to gain sympathy, further complicating matters.
Ravi becomes increasingly distant, focusing his attention on Roma's recovery, leaving Reema emotionally isolated. Roma intensifies her advances, culminating in a confrontation where Reema demands clarity. Ravi's silence leads Reema to believe he still harbors feelings for Roma, and she decides to leave. During a tense car journey, Roma leaps out of the moving vehicle, and Ravi takes Reema to a secluded cottage to explain everything.
There, he reveals that Roma's suicide attempts were staged and that he pretended to entertain her affections to expose her intentions. He reaffirms his love for Reema, emphasizing that true beauty lies within. A confrontation ensues, and Roma, overwhelmed with guilt, breaks down. She apologizes and reconciles with Reema. The film concludes with Ravi and Reema remarrying and Roma being welcomed back into the family by her father.
